Sherri Evans is the founder of Black Orchid Transport and Mortuary Services, operating under Black Orchid Legacy, LLC. With over 20 years of experience in funeral service, she brings a deep understanding of mortuary operations, professional standards, and the level of care families and facilities expect.
She began her career in 2005 while attending the University of Central Oklahoma, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Funeral Service. Throughout her career, Sherri has served in multiple roles including Funeral Director, Embalmer, Restorative Artist, Celebrant, and Funeral Home Manager.
After relocating to Texas, she worked in both Dallas and Waco, gaining extensive experience in embalming services and funeral home operations. During her tenure, she received the Circle of Excellence Award, recognizing top performance among thousands of employees nationwide.
In 2021, she founded Black Orchid Transport to provide reliable, professional support to funeral homes across Texas — filling a critical need for dependable transport and service coverage.
Outside of work, Sherri enjoys time with her loved ones and her pets — Daisy, Woo Woo, Sir Cash Money, and “the chickens.” She is an avid gamer, sports enthusiast, and creative artist, known for her miniature funeral-themed work under the name ClayTimeJester.

Angela Sword
Lead Transport Specialist
Angela is a key member of the Black Orchid Transport team, serving as Lead Transport Specialist. She is known for her reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail, ensuring every call is handled with care and respect.
With over three years of hands-on experience in mortuary transport, Angela has established herself as a dependable and dedicated professional in a field where consistency is essential. In addition to her transport experience, she brings over 20 years of customer service experience, giving her a strong understanding of how to interact with families and professionals with care and respect.
Her background in psychology further supports her ability to approach each situation with compassion and awareness. As a mother of three, Angela is adaptable, steady, and prepared to handle the demands of the profession while maintaining the high standards Black Orchid is known for.
Outside of work, Angela has been married to her husband for over 10 years and is the proud mother of three boys, ages 22, 10, and 7. She also shares her home with her dog, Bear (age 13), who she jokingly refers to as her favorite child.
Support Team
Black Orchid Transport is supported by a trained team of professionals who assist with transport, coverage, and operational support as needed. This allows us to provide consistent, reliable service across all calls.
Jeremiah — Assists with transport and night coverage, supporting timely response and reliability.
Noelle — Provides support with transport and scheduling coverage as needed.
